Sound — 10
My music is mostly prog metal. The neck on this guitar is perfect for shreding and arpegios and stuff. I am using it with a boss GT6 to a JCM800. The sound is rich and bright, perfect for fast picking and legato and feel you get is diffrent from the RG's.

Overall Impression — 10
The guitar is perfect for lead guitarist, and those who worship Paul Gilbert. The neck on this guitar is just perfect, It's a different feelto other guitar and easy to play.

Reliability & Durability — 10
I've used this guitar for 7 months, and it looks sturdy enough to withstand damnation. I can always depend on it, its sound is always rich and it never goes out of tune.

Action, Fit & Finish — 10
Mine was second hand, but the action was just fine and excellent! With this guitar you can have insane low action and fast legato runs thru the neck. The only thing I don't like in this guitar is the bridge. Mine was made in 2001, so the bridge is LTR2, I heard other PGM made in 2003 were edge pro bridge, but it's still perfect for me.

There is no tone knob right? So how do you play songs that need different levels of tone, and yet sound almost the same?
Turn the preascence-knob on your amp down?
$400? get a better pgm with a better bridge than the TRS, or even better, a fixed bridge.
Dang, should i get this guitar? i play rock tho..i know it doesn't suit my style, but what are your opinions?
This guitar is great, especially for the price! the inf pickups bit weak tho, esp when travelling along to the upper frets, but thats easily replaceable.
the ibanez price list says this guitar is $1800 or something lyk that but they're selling it at guitar world for $2700
yeah that is pricey... ibanez and paul gilbert both rock though. i take it you got it for 399 used.
You guys have to realize that this is the PGM30 model. The PGM30 and PGM3 are the "low end" PGM models, with inferior electronics and bridge. There are so many different PGM models, each one being unique. It is also safe to say that if you are looking for a model other than a PGM301 (which is his current model), you are going to have to buy it used and search hard for it. They are quite rare, and the majority of his models were only sold in Japan.
I also dont rate it get an ibanez 420ex SAR 4 the price its a way better guitar cause the inf pups are weak
I'm living in china and i can get it for 3600 kuai... or like 527.35 USD. which is really strangely cheap, but i know the guys there and they don't sell copied guitars... *sigh* i dont know what to do! i love paul gilbert... XDD and this guitar! I'm a girl, and this is the only guitar that i think is feminine enough for me to pull off... maybe. XD but i'm gonna try and get it. i can't wait to start shredding!!!
