I play mostly metal, I'm an EMG guy but the stock pickups surprised me. My Live rig is a JSX Half stack, my practice setup is a Peavey XXX Combo. No excessive noise with this guitar. If I had to live with the stock pickups I probably could, but I will be swapping them out for EMGs shortly.

Overall Impression — 9
I've been playing for 18 years. I've owned 23 guitars, and right now this is my main guitar. I'll let that speak for itself. Are there things that could be improved? Yes. Are there any show stopping flaws? None that I've found. Learn how to setup a trem, take care of the guitar, and it will take care of you.

Reliability & Durability — 9
I haven't played live with this guitar yet but based on my previous experience with Ibanez I can confidently say I doubt I will have any problems with this guitar. I've heard complaints about the Edge III trem not staying in tune, but you have to take into consideration that floating trems are very picky and they require precise setup and maintenance. I'm using .10-42 on my guitar and it holds tune just fine. I always play live with a backup, but if I was forced to use this without a backup I really doubt I would have any problems.

Action, Fit & Finish — 9
The first thing I noticed about this guitar was the finish and hardware. Mine is the pewter model with matching hardware. Quality wise the guitar seems to be put together well. My only complaint is that they could have taken a little extra time filing the edge of the frets. Compared to my other Ibanez (Korean 270DX) the frets feels a little rough sliding up and down the neck. As noted by others the hardware finish seems to wear fairly quick, but in my opinion it just gives it character.

This guitar was built in Indonesia in 2008. I believe it is a Guitar Center Exclusive model. 24 Jumbo Frets, Edge III Tremolo, Standard RG body with HSH pickup config with INF4/INFS3/INF3 setup. 5 way switch, locking nut, Ibanez tuners. Reverse Headstock. No case included.

There is a black one, I had it. It's so odd that this review came up because I just sold it yesterday. I had to re-tune that thing every 2 hours of playing so I ended up just blocking it instead. The highs on those pickups are terrible, sustain couldn't last for 2 seconds. I did have a good time with it but I just hope someone else makes better use of it than I did.
Ive had mine for nearly a week, I check the tuning after every playing session and practice and its still in tune.
    Lefty filp
