Danelectro: D-3 FAB Metal

Sound — 8
The sound is great. Distortion is very heavy with a nice, crunchy tone. I use it with a Dunlop Crybaby through a Kustom Dual 30RC and get a near perfect sound. When activated, though, the noise usually associated with distortion while not playing is more noticeable than with other pedals. Also, there is a slight lack of low end frequency.

Overall Impression — 9
I usually play Metallica or System Of A Down. The Fab Metal delivers a near photocopy of these bands' distortion effects with the right settings. Any hard rock or mtal band sound can be replicated with this pedal. I highly recommend it for any aspiring guitarists.

Reliability & Durability — 7
Although, it's made of plastic, this pedal can stand up to heavy stomping, which is hard to avoid on stage with adrenaline flowing. The big downside is that when the battery reaches about half life, a strange almost electric crackle is heard when palm muting or draging your fingers accross the strings.

Ease of Use — 9
This pedal is about as straight forward as you can get. Pop in the battery, set the tone, gain, and level, and start playing. Although, due to the small pedal size and use of a button rather than a pedal, activation can be difficult while playing sitting down. Because I bought it from a friend, I don't have a manual for it, but this pedal is so simple that you don't really need one.
