Sound — 9
With a clean tone this unit adds so much character to the sound of the guitar that it has a dramatic effect on your playing and overall sound. While with Overdrive it does not fit as with a clean tone but it still is a great sounding effect. The filter matrix mode is nice but I doubt if its useable. If you play experimental stuff or some sort of electronic music with instruments this could be a great fiture. The only problam is the doubling you get when the effect is turned on. In Overdrive you really notice it and it makes it hard to Switch on and off the effect while maintaining the same overall sound. This pedal really sounds 80's rock.
Overall Impression — 9
I'm a session player. Been playing for 9 years so far. This unit is very useful for quite songs when I want a bigger sound than one guitar. The character it adds overcomes all disadventages and basiclly does the job every time. Also good for overdriven songs when you want a different character to your sound. This is a great addition to a pedalboard. I wouldn't use it as a substitotion for a univibe. Different effect that sounds better in some cases and worst in others.
Reliability & Durability — 8
The unit is very dependable but you really have to pay attention to it since it does not have an led built in (you can add it yourself quite simply but most players don't mod their effects). You always start playing wondering if its turned off... Or on for that matter. One issue is the 24v input it needs which is a problam with all power-all devices. Make sure you have a room for the adaptor.
Ease of Use — 10
Simple 3 buttons. Can't go wrong with it. The sound is great whatever the configurations are. You can really be sure to get a likeable sound for any player with its own taste. I've been playing with them and liked the slower rates with a lot of falnge and low chorus. You get a flanged sound with a little spice from the chorus...
