Sound — 10
My setup: Epiphone Sg Custom, Epiphone SG Jr, Fender Std Strat (used it in the store, I don't actually have one) - Boss DS-1 Distortion, Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion, Boss PH-3 Phase Shifter, Boss XT-2 Xtortion - DigiTech Whammy re-issue - Mini Q-Tron, Line 6 Spider 212 (tres sucky amp). Only bought it today so it may well move but sounds fabbo where it is at the moment shrug. Using the 3 simple knobs you can easily get the level of sound/effect you want, ranging from pretty loud and heavy effect to quiet and weak effect. Erm without trying too hard you can immitate Chili Peppers early stuff and well any kind of funk, subtle to heavy. Amazing sound.
Overall Impression — 10
I play everything: rock, punk, alternative, metal but I don't play funk. Strange, no? That I bought an Envelope Filter pedal, and might I add the most funk-a-fied Envelope Filter pedal in the universe. Well, truth is anyone can incroperate this effect into their sound, wether it be to funk up a solo or make a screwed up intro - amazing pedal! I've been playng like 2 years but I'm no newbie power chord whore, I love bands like RATM, Nirvana, Billy Talent, Tool etc. If it were lost or stolen id save up again and either buy this, or look into to buying the "Electro-Harminx Q-Tron, or Q-Tron plus" - they seem to have more features, but for the price snap this pedal up now! I love everything about this pedal and so will you, there is nothing to hate (apart from the stupid on/off button). This is the only Envelope Filter worth your money, I was looking into auto wahs etc. for ages trying to find the right sound. Then I walked into my local music shop and saw the Mini Q-Tron love at first sight. This pedal is perfect in every way imaginable no feedback issues, the true bipass really is true. Go try this pedal out first, then buy!
Reliability & Durability — 10
Only annoying thing is the crappy on off button thingy. It won't break or anything, just makes the loudest click when you press it. Electro-Harmonix speaks for itself. No need for back ups with decent gear.
Ease of Use — 10
3 knobs: Drive, Q and Mode. Drive - amount of the effect you want, Q - Strength of the effect itself, Mode - choice of 3 filters. Screw around for 5 minutes and you'll find some amazing sounds. Finding a permanent sound might take a while but it's pretty fun just looking for the right sound. And blind people could use this pedal ace.
