Sound — 9
The Venue DI is a great compliment to any system installed on your acoustic guitar. The unit does a great job of balancing frequencies and helps your acoustic guitar produce a very clear sound. On the face of the pedal are two switches, one for the "Mute/Tune" and the other for "Boost". The boost is very clear, and transparent which is easily controlled by the hit of a switch. If you want to increase your sound for a finger picked section, all you have to do is step on the boost to help you cut through the mix. You can also control how much of a decibel boost by simply turning the knob on top of the pedal. The tuner is located on the right side of the pedal and has a very bright red and green LED display. The tuner is very easy to read, especially in dimly lit rooms. There's no problem seeing which notes you are tuning. When the tuner is engaged is automatically engages the mute function. The one concern some players may have with the pedal is the sound the switches make when you step on them. It's a very loud "click." Some players make not like that, especially if they are playing in a very intimate setting.

Overall Impression — 10
A lot of my gigs are acoustic based. I had been searching for a great preamp to compliment my guitar. After playing with the Venue DI I was sold. I've always liked LR Baggs products and the Venue DI is another example of a great product produced by a great company. If you're an acoustic player looking for a solid unit, the Venue DI is one to highly consider!

Reliability & Durability — 10
The Venue DI is a very reliable, and dependable unit. It's built like a tank, and can take the abuse of a stompbox. It's a quality unit which is to be expected from a company like LR Baggs. I use the Venue DI for all my acoustic gigs, and there's a very noticeable difference when I do and don't use it on a gig.

Ease of Use — 10
The Venue DI is an acoustic preamp that combines a transformer-coupled DI output for maximum isolation, an EQ specifically tuned for acoustic instruments, a volume boost footswitch to complement your playing styles, and an easy to read Chromatic Tuner with a mute/tune footswitch. Combining the features from 3 stompboxes into 1, the Venue DI brings a new level of fidelity and usefulness to performing acoustic musicians. This pedal may look like a Flux Capacitor but, is very easy to use and really helps EQ the sound of your acoustic guitar. Features: Adjustable gain for both passive and active pickups 5 band EQ with tunable low-mid and high-mid bands Garrett Null notch filter for effective feedback control Phase inversion for best sound and feedback control Full Chromatic Tuner with footswitch mute/tune function Adjustable volume boost footswitch Full isolation audio transformer-coupled DI Clip meter to visually optimize gain setting 4 segment battery Status gauge XLR and 1/4" outputs Series FX loop (separate jacks for send and return) Works with 9v battery or DC adapter (not provided) Carrying case included

Don't you know the purpose of a preamp? You connect it to an amp, to a PA system, to a recording device...
