The new seven peice line-up is absolutly enormous and they are all quite good techincally. However the solos lacked the soul and feel that Slash would give them and the chords aren't played with the same flair and style of Gillby Clarke or Izzy Stadlin.

Sound: This was in fact the best part of the entire concert. The new seven peice line-up is absolutly enormous and they are all quite good techincally. However the solos lacked the soul and feel that Slash would give them and the chords aren't played with the same flair and style of Gillby Clarke or Izzy Stadlin. The drums aren't played as they used to be either. Overall it was good but still disapointing. // 6
Perfomance: The concert itself made me sick, not because it was a bad show (as a display it was great) but it was not what Guns N' Roses was all about. The label "The Most Dangerous Band In The Wolrd" is not longer fitting of this group has-beens and hired hands. They don't fit together in the slightest as a unit on stage. Welcome To The Jungle and Paradise City were the peaks but the set was awfully patchy set and not deserving of the headlining slot at the home of Heavy Metal in the wrolds primary metal festival, Download. // 5
Overall Impression: UK, Leicestershire, Castle Donnington Sunday 11th Of June 2006. Dragonforce who played earlier that day blew almost everything else that happened that day (almost the Prodigy and Lordi headlining sets as well) totally to the reeds with their "extreme power metal" genius. Herman Li is a god and should be recongnised as a great. In Flames style of Metal was next to brutalise the fans. They too were awesome and unforgetable, In Flames are a band that should have healined at this venue many times but do not get the recongnition that they deserve. Lacuna Coil's Frontwoman Cristina Scabbia is one of the most famous rock stars in the world at the moment and it shows. The Band put on a wonderful show with excellent showing from the latest album "Karmacode". Her voice was great as was the other singer Who I can't rememeber the name of. Cradle Of Filth were spooky and despite the obvious lack of attention (due to fantasys and Cristina Scabbia) they blew the stage apart with their brilliant mix of Gothic organs and Heavy Metal of the highest quality. Bullet For My Valentine were actually rather good. Matt Tuck can't sing very well but as a cohesive unit there isn't a fresh band around at the moment (apart from Fightstar Who played on the Snickers Stage and absolutly slaughtered the welsh band) Who are a tight as these guys. Funeral For A Friend have been to Download twice but were terribly dispointing last time. They attempted to make up for it in this set filled with more tracks from the album "Hours" but still fall flat but that might have been because half the crowd were watching Lordi Who were playing at the same time. The came the biggest disapointment of the entire Download festival. The Headliners. Axl Rose and freinds who claim to be Guns N' Roses. The Headliners were the best bits of the show. I hated the feeling of nostalgia that I felt during Funeral for a Freind's set and after the show ended. I would not have the 120 prices I payed to watch Axl Rose further disgrace the name of a legendary band which he tore apart with the help of drugs. The most unforgettable moment was not in the Guns N' Roses set at all. It was the blistering rendition of "Our Truth" in Lacuna Coil's set. I shall never see another Guns N' Roses show as long is I intend to live because this one was dreadful, nostalgic and worst of all, characterless. The best bands on the bill were In Falmes, Cradle Of Filth and overall highlight of the day Lacuna Coil. // 5
