Sound: Although all the members of Maiden played their instruments quite well, it seemed at times that the mix was unbalanced, with vocals sometimes overpowering the guitar parts, or other times the drums dominating a sing-along chorus. Despite this, the sound quality was nearly as good as that on their studio albums, and at several points, Bruce hit such high note I was actually shocked at his range. // 8

Perfomance: Absolutely flawless. I can't remember every song Maiden played, as the total number was close to 30, but highlights include: Aces High 2 Minutes To Midnight The Trooper Number Of The Beast Powerslave I Can Play With Madness Revelations Fear Of The Dark The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Run To The Hills Heaven Can Wait Hallowed Be Thy Name The entire audience interacted with the band, and sang along with nearly every chorus. Bruce underwent several costume changes to fit with various songs, including a pharaoh mask for Powerslave, a redcoat for The Trooper, and a birdlike cloak for the Rime of the Ancient Mariner. This was all played out on a replica of the 84-85 World Slavery Tour, which had a moving background that changed as the subject matter of songs did. // 10

Overall Impression: The concert was at the IZOD Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on March 14, 2008. Steve Harris' daughter opened for Iron Maiden. Their act was stereotypical at best, and the music wasn't particularly good. Once Iron Maiden came on, any doubts brought on by the sub-par opener were washed away. Maiden played two hours of classics off of most of their albums spread out over two sets. They used ungodly amounts of pyrotechnics, had a 15 foot tall cyborg Eddie fighting Janick on stage. At $50, my ticket was cheaper than I expected it would be for such a great show. // 9
