MRG: Rocker

Sound — 8
This is a very cheap pickup that I purchased from an ebay seller. Its called the MRG Rocker, costed 20CAD including shipping. 8k DC Resistance, 3 wires so it can be coil split. I bought it to replace the existing bridge pickup in my Agile AL-3000 cause I hated it, they did rock well, but crumbled under higher gain. I didn't really expect much from this however. I play through a Peavey XXX Super 40. In the Agile, this pickup is amazing. I figured compared to the stock pickup because it was so terrible. Its very clear, and handled high gain really well even though its only a medium output pickup(8k Dc resistance). Very low noise level too. I figured, why not compare it to my Seymour Duncan JB that I had in my Epiphone G-400. The tone of this pickup is very similar to that of a JB, but not so bright sounding and a better bass response. I find the midrange to be relaxed. I realized I like this pickup better than my JB. I then decided to try the JB in my Agile, but it was really muddy, so I ending up selling it, and putting the stock pickup back in my Agile, and currently searching to discover another cheap great pickup. Really nice sounding pickup, its like the Duncan JB without the harsh highs and flabby bass. I'd give it an eight because I haven't played any handwound boutique pickups.

Overall, I was amazed by this pickup and how great it sounded. Makes me wonder why do we pay one hundred dollars for duncans and dimarzios? There has to be more gems out there. There's a lot to love about this pickup, from the price to the sound. One thing I don't like it it has 3 wires not 4 so you can't wire it for parallel to series switching. Its currently in my epi g-400, which has a 1 meg pot and opens up the pickup more and also has even less noise now. Great pickup, recomended.

Reliability & Durability — 10
I've had this for about 4 or 5 months now, switched it back forth about 5 times between a bunch of guitars and it still works fine. Very low noise pickup, I can depend on it pretty well. I have a very good feeling that this will not let me down.
