Though in the studio version it's played slightly off G sharp, when performing live, it looks to me like Dan plays this in the key of G with the A string tuned down to G. I'm not sure what he has the 1st and 6th strings tuned to, but I think it's the same tuning he uses in "Busted" if that helps...

E|---------------------------------------
B|-3---1-------------1-3-----------------
G|---------3-0---0-3-----3---------------
D|-------------3-----------------0-------
G|-0---0---------------------0-3---------
E|---------------------------------------

something like that...

I saw them in Dallas. They played this so good live. Dan and Pat were flailing around. Goddamn!

I agree with stonefree86, on the DVD you can hear him tune down the A string to G and I'm pretty sure that's all he
tunes down. And, yes, he plays Busted then Stack Shot in this tuning. The CD has a different tuning.

It sounds good if you play it down 2 frets i.e

e------------------
B-3-------------3--
G--5-3------3-5--3-
D------5-3-5-------
A------------------
E------------------

great stuff.. I don't like tuning my guitar different from the normal tuning.

somestuff you can add to make it sound cooler is hammer the first 5 from 3.

so
E|-----
B|-3h5-
G|-----
D|-----
G|-0---
E|-----

e|--------------------------|
b|-9-7-5--------------------|
g|-------7-/7---------------|
d---------------------------|
a|--------------------------|
e|--------------------------|

sounds better like this:

e|--------------------------|
b|--------------------------|
g|-9-7-5--------------------|
d|-------7-/7---------------|
a|--------------------------|
e|--------------------------|

Yes the way he plays the song is actually in open G tuning, not standard. On the studio version it's 1/2 step higher in G sharp, probably because the guitar was unintentionally tuned that way or something altered the sound in the recording process. (Most of Rubber factory is 1/2 step sharp.)

It's impossible to play the whole song in standard tuning because he plays it with a slide and during the break down there are open barre chord riffs. Technically you could do it without the slide but it won't sound as good

the chorus licks sound very off, perhaps they're in the Am pent first position?
