great tab!!!! its perfect
+4   December 31 2005, 10:33 am by aron444 |
Thanks so much. I put alot into my tabs to make sure they are correct as I can be. The Beatles are my fav. I learned most of this song when i was very young but for some reason, I couldn't get the Chorus part right. I used to play it down low on the fretboard with the high E but then I got older and saw the light. LOL Thanks again.
January 7 2006, 01:00 pm by nudasveritas |
this chord isn't right after "into the light" after the repeat verse. when you go to the 12th and 10th fret the rythym is different.

another mistake is in the tabs before the chirping on the same frets.. the rythym is different than notated. but aside from that great tab.
+2   January 8 2006, 02:13 pm by aron444 |
Could you explain yourself a little more. I have seen this song tabbed ah......places. LOL and I also used two live versions done by Paul to really make sure I had everything right on this tune. As far as the rythym being different. I think I know what you are refering to there. I know evertime its done live by McCartney there are 2 guitars used. I think there might be 2 tracks going on the White album version and I here some slight differences in rythym the second time through but nothing so different that I thought it was worth noteing. There is alot of little strumming parts going on after he plucks the notes at times but that was like a feel thing as it is never played exactly the same each time he does the song. If that isn't the right chord after "into the light" what is. It sounds right and when I checked my work out, thats what all the books had? Let me know so I can try it and see what sounds best.

Sup man this is a great tab but with one flaw> the finger picking part is just off alittle. It sounds better like this
------------------------------------------ thats better now and do
---12-----------12-------12----------12--- this on all the funny
---------0-----------0-------0------------ finger picking Paul
------------------------------------------ does. Email me back
---10-------10-----------10------10------- on this one thanks
------------------------------------------ this is a kickass tab!
+4   May 19 2006, 05:51 pm by aron444 |
Thats not correct though. I've seen it played that way. it sounds good and is alot easier but is not how Paul plays it. It works though. I play it this way when I sing it at times cuz its easier for me. Thats also how the guy played it on the "I am Sam" soundtrack. (your way). Again, it sounds nice and is easier to play but listen very closly to the White Album version and you will hear the doubled up picking I have. I have seen it tabbed like 5 different ways in beatles books. One was yours and one was mine so hey. Play it how ya feel it I say.
May 20 2006, 12:28 am by James Jarvis |
I believe yah the only reason why i play it like this is because it seemed logical to me just because it is alot easier i guess and because it also sounds good. Another reason i play it like this is because this is how my dad tought it to me. Thanks for that thought i this is really a great tab and one of my all time favorite guitar song!!!
+1   May 20 2006, 01:56 pm by aron444 |
Thankyou. Thanks for the comment too. It is a great way to play it and maybe others might want to play it that way too. I like playing it that way as well expecailly when I am singing it. it makes it easier and still ssounds great. This si was of the greatest acoustic guitar tunes ever written. keep jammin'

Brilliant tab - I learned the first part of this song from a different site, and then from a beatles book, and the "different rhythm" part nudasveritas is talking about, on the album there's a second guitar that plays a chord, I think it's a c, (not sure if it's open or barred) over this part, and other parts with similar rhythms. The fingerpicked part that paul plays is what you have tabbed.

Well done, good tab and fantastic song.
May 31 2006, 04:28 pm by aron444 |
Ya, as I said after, it sounds like there is another guitar strumming chords. I agree with that but I didn't agree with anything else he said. My picking parts are exact I think. I have recorded this song on my Roland 2480CD and I just do some strumming with the some finger positions as the picking but leaving out the strings that don't fit. i think thats what the Beatles did for alot and then there are a few parts that I just play G. Then I turn the strumming part down so its behind the picking part and it sounds perfect. Not sure if its exactly what they did but it sounds very close. Give it a try lightly strumming the middle 4 strings with the same fingering to get a feel for what I am talking about. Thanks for all the compliments everybody. I'm glad this tab is helpin people out. This song is freakin amazing. Keep your thoughts coming.

T4Z- Easy compared to what. Its easy if you can fingerpick, and you have the tab in front of you. Not so easy if you just listen to it and try to play it. Well, lets put it this way. I'd like to play this song for a novice player, novice because you said this song is so damn easy, and see how long it takes him/her to figure it out. LOL Blink 182 is easy, this is harder for some. I've tried to teach it to just about all my students. some get it real quick, others it takes time, and then some just can't get it. There. I have said my peace. Thanks for the credit. Peace all!

August 16 2006, 05:20 pm by aron444 |
Cool. Has Guitar One or Guitar World or any other mag tabbed this out in an issue. I think alot of guitar players would like to learn it but just don't give it much thought cuz its not in their face. Great tune.

great! thanks
November 17 2006, 02:33 pm by TK1 |
great song, perfect tab. the finger picking is a little off tho like James Jarvis said up there.
November 28 2006, 05:17 pm by aron444 |
Alot can be said about the guitar picking because it isn't consistant in any way. That said, I took what was played for the most part as I do with things of this nature. I'm still not sure exactly what you guys are talking about though. Could you give me an example please. Thanks

November 28 2006, 05:21 pm by aron444 |
OK, I looked at the other picking pattern. You can play it like that but its not what Paul is playing. Its easier though. I must have said this replying to the other email but that how it is picked on the I am Sam soundtrack. Listen close to the Beatles version and you will hear the extra notes "for the most part" Like I said before. To me, the picking sounds inconsistant at times. Bottom line is, both ways sound nice. Glad this tab is helping people play one of the greatest acoustic tunes of all time.

brilliant tab aron my main man!
January 6 2007, 10:45 pm by Trickstar |
Hey mate, fantastic job on the tab, I can see you put a lot of effort into this which must be commended. However, there seems to be another version, involving strumming, which in my opinion sounds closer to the soundtrack. Here is the link.

Tell us what you think.
January 9 2007, 05:18 pm by aron444 |
Thats so funny. I pick it like that sometimes. I thought I was combining what I thought was 2 guitars on the actual song. I could never tell exactly how it sounded cuz I was the one playing. It sounded good but not sure how exact like it sounds when you are just listening. Basically what I was doing was playing the notes I have in the tab picking up and down and hitting both strings (most of the time LOL) Yes, I like that way alot. Cool thing is, if anyone learned it this way, it should be really easy to adjust if you want to. I always liked the other way too. I think it would sound really nice if one player played what I tabbed and the other added the 2 string strum which is how I thought it was done in the studio. Reason is, when I saw paul play it, they did it pretty much like that (2 guitar players) I highly recommend anyone trying to learn blackbird to use this tab and the youtube link that Trickstar posted above. You will be playing Blackbird like a champ in no time. LOL

[07/31/2006 - 01:20 pm] by |T4Z| : This song is way to easy, all hough i give credit for a good tab

Damn, now I feel really bad...
March 20 2007, 11:06 pm by aron444 |
stratomaster- are you on crack. LOL JK This song is not easy. I mean, its easy to play for someone who has played guitar for a while and who can pick well. What I mean to say is, I have heard people say they can play this song and then when they play it, they hack it to shreads with bad picking technique and lack of timing. I'm not saying you would but in general. This is not an easy song to play. Easy for me and you maybe, but not for alot of people I have heard try to play it correctly.

+1   April 23 2007, 05:27 pm by aron444 |
Well. Yes you can and it sounds pretty good too. The only thing your losing is the G note your playing is an octive higher than what he plays. When I see your way, my immediate thought is, Cool, have one guitar play it the regular way and the other your way. Then you get a nice effect on the G notes being an octive apart. That said, you won't get the long slide up effect which isn't that big of a deal. For me, playing it up at the 12th fret is easier but there are no rules. The next time I play this song with someone. Im gonna throw that in a few times to see how it sounds. OK. Taker easy!
May 20 2007, 03:09 pm by WCS_Is_Worse1 |
I haven't attemped your version but my version is different. I play my version partially by ear, the rest is tab but great nonetheless 5 stars.
June 5 2007, 10:54 pm by Foo Man Chu |
This is an excelent tab. Keep up the great work. It's hard to find a good tab that isn't just scratched together by someone with a lot of time on their hands. This tab was easy to understand and made total sense when played along with the album (that and it's impressive to play for friends). Thank you.
June 6 2007, 03:29 pm by aron444 |
Thanks much. I do like that youtube version someone posted too. Its basically the same except you strum 2 strings at once in some of the parts. I may have said this before but I think on the album, both are played together to give it volume and definition. I could be wrong though. Bottom line, they both sound great. But would you expect anything else from a Beatle. LOL

hey, first of all, my hat off to you not only for creating an accurate tab, but for the alternate fingerings and replying to these comments. To me this shows dedication to create a great tab and secondly the fact that you take on board the ideas of others to make it perfect. amazing.

I think this is the correct way to play when the song is at ("Take these...."). The one you posted is a lot harder to finger.

Great tab, only wish you weren't a Beatles noob and though that Paul McCartney played guitar. John Lennon - Guitar,
George Harrison - Guitar, Paul McCartney - Bass, Ringo Starr (Richard Starkey) - Drums

+1   April 1 2008, 08:02 am by |Guitarhead| |
excellent tab, clearly written and everything, but it would've been better if it was all written down instead of saying: repeat first verse without fill or something; because then I would be able to play it all non-stop with the auto-scroll on without having to go back up all the time and repeat stuff. Great tab though anyway

I thought this too so came here to check the comments to see if I wasn't the only one but surprised there's not more comments about it as it sounds quite different. Going to carry on playing it this way as sounds closer to the real thing.

in stead of having to stretch your hand from 8 to 4, just bar 3 and use your middle finger for the 4

With the second chord it also sounds like the recording if you fret the 2nd fret on the G string instead of the open G. However i dont know if this is more or less correct because i cant listen to the track at the moment. Great tab tho!
